Writing up a killer resume is a very important part of your job-hunting experience. In this post we are going to break down a perfect resume format for dental hygienist, and we are going to give you an example too!

We’ve given you some tips on creating an awesome resume in our previous post about what to write in your dental assistant resume (which you can apply in dental hygienist application too), now let’s focus on the technical sides, shall we?

Format for Dental Hygienist Resume that Actually Work

CONTACT INFORMATION

The first thing you should write would be your Contact Information, consisting of all the standard information required such as phone number, emails, etc. In this session, it is recommended to write a reason you are writing the resume. Keep this short and effective. Here’s an example:

Job Objective: Pursuing a career as a dental hygienist, because it offers a chance to face various challenges and improves myself.

WORK EXPERIENCE

If you already have work experience, put them right after your contact information. If you are searching for entry level position, then it might be a good idea to put your EDUCATION section here.

You should chronologically list work experiences that are related to the dental hygienist, starting from the latest experiences. Don’t forget to effectively write your job descriptions, as well as your responsibilities.

Preferably, unrelated work experiences should be cut off from the list. Even if you insist on inserting them, simply list them without having to write the job descriptions and responsibilities. Simply add your position, the employer, and the contact info.

Fresh graduates might want to consider adding their practicums, field work related to the position as their first work experience.

EDUCATION

Again, if you are a fresh graduate pursuing an entry level position as dental hygienist, it is a good idea to put EDUCATION before WORK EXPERIENCE in your dental hygienist resume format. Insert your last degree chronologically from the last degree you have.

In this section you might also want to add a CERTIFICATION section, which basically explains any certification related to dental hygienist. Workshops, seminars, or other certification are welcomed.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Unlike the job experience and education, in this section you should mention all achievements you’ve earned, not limited to ones that are related to dental hygienist. You are more than welcomed to list your voluntary activities, social awards, etc. Remember, dental hygienist will be helping people too, so these informal achievements will show your soft skills.
