How to Clean Dentures Properly

Is it important to have clean dentures?  Obviously. You should consider the dentures as your own natural teeth, hence keeping them nice and clean is the best thing to do. By doing so, you can avoid gum inflammation; infections caused by bacteria, or even lose more teeth.

How to Clean Denture Guide

First, prepare a toothbrush, toothpaste, bowl of water or folded towel, fizzy denture cleaner (optional). Now prepare the bowl of water or folded towel as the base. This will prevent the denture from falling to dirty surfaces. After that, start brushing the denture. Imagine that you’re brushing your own teeth. Brush it thoroughly, from the teeth section to every surface of the denture. Optionally, you can use effervescent denture cleaner to help removing stains that are hard to remove. Remember, do not brush too hard because it may leave some marks on the denture. If you find it hard to remove a certain stain, we recommend using the denture cleaner.

After first brushing, soak the denture in the water to ensure that what’s left after the first brushing goes away. After that, proceed to the second brushing. Just like the first brushing, avoid using too much force, but this time don’t use toothpaste. Then you are finished. Please refer to the manufacturer’s instruction and make sure you follow their recommendation.

Cleaning Dentures – How often should I do it?

As we have said earlier, it is important to consider them as your own teeth. Hence, cleaning them one time during the day and once again right before you go to sleep would be the ideal solution. In addition, should you feel that the denture is dirty after eating, you may as well clean them again.
