Kindergarten Dental Health Activities Ideas and Games

Hello, this time I would like to share a nice idea for preschool and kindergarten teachers to incorporate dental health activities in their classroom. There are many dental health lesson plans available, but this time we would like to start with our favorite, a game that’s called “What’s Missing?”

This fun game can be used in many circumstances. Some teachers prefer to use them as transition activities, while others prefer to use them as a circle time activities. Below are the materials that you need to prepare before you can implement the ideas in your pre-K classroom:

Dental Health Lesson Plans: What’s Missing?

For each student, prepare:

  • A small blanket
  • Toothbrush
  • Dental Floss
  • Toothpaste
  • Toothpick
  • Other dental related items

Note: if you’re in a small class, you can have just a few of these things and let the children to use it alternately.

Now here’s how to do it:

First, go in front of the class and show each of the items you’ve prepared. Introduce that it’s a toothbrush, dental floss, toothpick, toothpaste, etc. Don’t forget to allow them to touch the dental items. After that, have the children to close their eyes. Lay the items on the table in a random order and cover it with a small blanket so that the children won’t peek. Remove one item, and then allow the children to touch the items. Now allow them to open their eyes and guess what’s missing!

Dental Health Activities and Games: Pull a Tooth

The second dental health lesson plan is to introduce the HEALTHY and UNHEALTHY food for their teeth, in a fun way! The game is pretty simple and fun. First off you need to prepare a large paper. Draw a HUGE smile on it. Second, cut another paper shaped into the tooth that goes in the smile you’ve prepared. Now, you tape a picture of healthy and unhealthy food on the back of each tooth.

The last step would be taping the prepared tooth to the smile. Just use a light tape so that the children can pull it off easily.

Now call each child and have them pull a tooth. The children should then tell if the food in the back of the teeth is healthy or unhealthy for their tooth! Repeat until the whole class gets to pull the tooth!

Now as you can see, both of the games are extremely fun! I hope this post can help you get more ideas for kindergarten dental health activities and games.
